BESCHRIJVING
King John escaping from The Wash when the tide came in, losing the Crown Jewels as he did so. The route taken by his baggage train was usable only at low tide and the horse drawn convoy travelled too slowly to beat the tide. In fact, John was not present at the time, having taken a different route. From “Aunt Charlotte’s Stories of English History for the Little Ones” by Charlotte M Yonge.
